GLP-1 gummies: why a supplement is not the drug
GLP-1 gummies are dietary supplements that use GLP-1 wording in their marketing. They are not GLP-1 medicines. The approved GLP-1 options for weight are liraglutide, given daily, and semaglutide and tirzepatide, given weekly, all by injection. If you take a GLP-1 medicine, keep taking it as prescribed.

The term01
What are GLP-1 gummies?
GLP-1 gummies are chewable dietary supplements marketed with GLP-1 wording. The words are borrowed from a drug class. The gummies themselves are not in that class.
The GLP-1 weight-loss medicines that NIDDK lists are liraglutide (daily injection), semaglutide (weekly injection) and tirzepatide (weekly injection) (NIDDK, Weight-loss medications). None is a gummy.
A supplement can print a claim about normal body function. It must add that FDA has not evaluated the claim (FDA, Structure/Function Claims). FDA also does not approve supplements before they are sold (FDA, Using Dietary Supplements).
Side by side02
How is a GLP-1 gummy different from the drug?
Almost every practical line differs: the form, the review before sale and who decides you can use it.
| Question | GLP-1 gummy | Approved GLP-1 medicine |
|---|---|---|
| Form | Chewable supplement | Injection, daily or weekly (NIDDK, Weight-loss medications) |
| Reviewed before sale | No (FDA, Using Dietary Supplements) | Yes, approved drugs only |
| Prescription | No | Yes (FDA, Unapproved GLP-1 drugs) |
| Trial of the product | Not published for Jellutide | Yes, in the NIDDK summary (NIDDK, Weight-loss medications) |
Jellutide03
Is Jellutide a GLP-1 gummy?
No. Jellutide is a dietary supplement gummy. Its label lists a 525 mg blend of apple cider vinegar and BHB salts, plus 2 g of sugars per gummy.
Neither blend part is a GLP-1 drug. The sales page says the formula can "naturally support GLP-1 activation", but it cites no trial of the gummy. The bottle label makes no GLP-1 claim.
We quote the line so you can see it, and we do not repeat it as fact. The full list is on the claims versus evidence page.

What does FDA say about unapproved GLP-1 products?
FDA says unapproved and compounded GLP-1 versions are not reviewed for safety, effectiveness or quality before marketing (FDA, Unapproved GLP-1 drugs). It advises getting a prescription and using a state-licensed pharmacy.
It also tells people to avoid products labeled for research purposes or not for human consumption (FDA, Unapproved GLP-1 drugs).

Our GLP-1 and supplements guide covers the rest. Ask your prescriber before adding any supplement, and keep taking prescribed medicine, including any GLP-1 medicine, as directed.

FAQ05
GLP-1 gummy questions
Can a gummy raise GLP-1 levels?
No study of Jellutide shows it. The vinegar studies we cite measured weight, fullness and blood glucose, not GLP-1, and the ketone salt studies measured blood ketones at about 12 to 24 g per dose (Stubbs 2017, Front Physiol). Treat GLP-1 wording on a supplement as marketing until a trial of that product is published.
Are GLP-1 gummies FDA approved?
No. FDA says it is not authorized to approve dietary supplements for safety and effectiveness before they are marketed (FDA, Using Dietary Supplements). The approved GLP-1 options for weight are prescription injections (NIDDK, Weight-loss medications). A gummy with GLP-1 wording has not been through that review.
Is there a GLP-1 drug in gummy form?
Not among the approved options NIDDK lists for weight loss, which are injections (NIDDK, Weight-loss medications). FDA warns about unapproved GLP-1 copies (FDA, Unapproved GLP-1 drugs). Be careful with any product that claims to be a GLP-1 drug without a prescription.
